This is our current model of the drives that get us and fellow humans moving.

Every behavior is obviously is a combination of several drives at work.

Skew to puzzle drive results in a more scientific approach (Richard Feynman is a great example of a person driven by and large by the puzzle drive).

Skew to beauty drive results in a more “artistic” approach (Jan Garbarek is a great example of a person driven by an large by the beauty drive).

Skew to compassion drive results in a more “altruistic” approach (Dalai Lama is a great example of a person driven by and large the compassion drive).

Skew to power drive in a more “competitive” approach (Muhammad Ali is a great example of a person driven by an large by the power drive).

Skew to pleasure drive (we are not aware of any great men driven by mainly pleasure drive, though pleasure drive plays a significant role in every personal mix).

Our bet is, if anybody is going to design a machine with a self (strong AI in Turing’s terms), it will have to have all these drives embedded in it and the personality will be a result not only of the previous experiences and knowledge but also of the combination of drives at work.
